Multiple Perspectives on the National Report on Sustainable Forests 2003
The Multiple Perspectives Project was a special effort of the Roundtable on Sustainable Forests to solicit stakeholder perspectives on the National Report on Sustainable Forests-2003. The project's objectives were to:
engage a diverse array of people in discussions of forest
sustainability,
communicate important messages that emerge from the evaluations of
the National Report by different stakeholder groups,
enhance mutual understanding of the multiple dimensions of forest
sustainability, and
highlight data needs that must be addressed to better understand the
trends and conditions of our nation's public and private forests.
Seven authors or groups of authors representing various stakeholder
perspectives have drafted papers that speak to the project's objectives.
The basic outline of each paper is similar: key messages that emerge from
the data in the National Report, gaps in our understanding, and suggested
refinements to either the Montreal Criteria and Indicators (C&I) or the
next edition of the National Report.
The collection of papers is now available as a special electronic monograph from the Society of American Foresters entitled Perspectives on America's Forest. The monograph is available free of charge. Click here to access Perspectives on America's Forests on the Society of American Foresters' website.
